Wow - According to the article, the new stick and tin units will have leather sofas. I wonder if they plan on putting leather in the other product lines also?

From the article
“Stick and tin travel trailers have traditionally been known as a high volume and low price market segment that accepts lower quality standards,” said Micah Staley, GM for Reflection, Imagine and now Transcend. They say that they are going to buck the trend and build a quality unit
I like the "accepts lower quality standards", most units made today are considered lower quality unit and this is supposed to give you warm and fuzzy feelings to your unit that according to the article would be a 32' in a price range of $20,000 to $30,000.
So far I feel I've been lucky with my unit but we have not had a chance to use it yet and I have to take it back to the dealer as my water pump will not shut off. I tried to winterize it Sunday and it would pull the anti freeze in till the pressure came up but pump would not shut off. I followed the instructions on how to adjust the pressure switch. It stated to turn the screw a max of 1.5 turns clockwise. Turned it one turn and still running. Went another turn still running. Kept count of the turns and ended up turning it till the screw was bottomed out and the pump continued to run.
Called dealer today and they would not just send me a new pump as they want to check it out further. They had an appointment change on Friday so they can get me in.
Now I know GD doesn't make the pump but this is on top of checking my wet bolts on my suspension and finding them all dry. Somebody had smeared grease on the zerks to make it appear that that they had been lubed but never put any grease in. The Dexter Equalizer never had any grease near it on the zerks. In fact one of the zerks on one of the wet bolts you couldn't even put any grease in because part of the zerk had been ground off and any time you tried push grease in it just squirted out around the grease gun head. So I had to replace that one and it was in so hard that I was stripping the sides of it off with a box end wrench. I ended having to use a big pair of channel locks to get the zerk out. Put a new one in and could grease the wet bolt then. So my trailer traveled over 800 miles with no grease in the suspension. Now that is either GD's problem or the dealers and I'll be discussing this with the service manager this Friday.
The lower portion of the curb slide at the door end was missing a screw (never even drilled for a screw) in the very front of the slide and the next one in was broken off. So if you walked along the slide when it was in, the front portion of the slide would drop down. We went up to the dealer for another issue I asked to get some screws for this as they are Robertson style. I had already checked Fastnal for a replacement screw and they didn't have any. The parts manager took me out to the shop and they didn't have any with black heads, I took a zinc coated some and painted it black when I got home. Then had to drill the hole for it and drill the other one out so I could put new ones in.
Sorry for the rant but I expect to find more problems as we go on and they say they are going to buck the trend and make the new one with quality. Fix the quality on your higher units while you are at it.Butch

Given the really rapid growth of GD, quality control is my biggest concern in pulling the trigger and buying one, currently. The specs are good, the designs are fantastic, the value is good...but, if they're slapping 'em together to keep up with a business plan, no thanks.
