    15% tongue weight at 11000 lbs is 1650 lbs. 11000 lbs minus 1650 is 9350lbs, well within the 10,400 lbs the axles (together) are rated to carry. It's possible you could have an even higher percentage on the tongue. Tongue weight is not carried by the trailer's axles. I think the tongue weight is a factor in this trailer's towing stability. It's as big a TT as I've seen anywhere.

    As far as the axles and springs go, time will tell. My trailer came with Lippert suspension components. After a season of camping and a few thousand miles on the road I haven't seen any deterioration of the springs, although the Lippert springs look to be pretty low quality units. If I ever have to replace them I'll use a different supplier.

    I was one of the unlucky ones that had the greased brakes issue. At that time I upgraded to MorRyde shackles, wet bolts, bronze bushings, equalizers and Timken wheel bearings. You are fortunate to have most of these components installed at the factory along with the Dexter axles and larger tires and wheels. Hopefully Dexter also supplied your springs.

    All that said, I think you have very little to worry about. Grand Design has addressed a lot of the issues I've had with the 2018 MY. I would suggest you make sure your suspension wet bolts get greased at PDI.

    Oh yeah, congrats on your new 315! We really love ours.

    Your coupler height will be a little higher than older units due to the larger diameter tires and wheels currently installed on the 2018's.

    When I replaced my springs on the old FW (which were Dexter)I used Etrailer.com and put on 7000# springs, they have 1 more leaf. I am considering putting shocks on this when I get it. Do you think I should have them pull a wheel to look at the brakes and see if grease is in there? Are the still using Lippert or did they go to Dexter?

    Regular hitch head, clamp on latches. RVupgrades had the best price with free shipping. Had it in 2 days

    I tow my 297RSTS (10,000 lbs GVWR) with the Blue Ox Sway Pro. When I purchased the hitch, I bought the 15,000 shank (7 hole) and 1500 lb WD bars. After towing it a few times, I upgraded to the 20,000 lb shank (Class V 2-1/5") and 2000 lb WD bars. I'm not trying to pitch the Blue Ox system (although I do like it), but rather share my experience with the high tongue weight of these trailers. The 315 will have a higher tongue weight than my 297 because of all the forward bedroom storage.

    Kim, I am looking at purchasing the 2.5 inch shank, as I am currently using the 2 inch with an adapter. How do you feel about the quality of the welded 2.5 inch shank vs the solid one-piece 2 inch? Thank you.

    The 2.5" shank is definitely a lot beefier and I prefer it with the weight I am pulling. As you mentioned, it also eliminates the adapter. The 2.5" shank is about 10 lbs heavier than the 2" one.

    I still have the 2" 7 hole shank if anyone is interested. Like new condition.

    As Klenger said, the 2.5" shank is very stout. I was aware of the tongue weight of the 315 before I got the hitch. At first I wanted the 1500lb bars, but that comes with the 2" shank. I went with the 2000lb bars and 2.5" shank, glad I did. I have a few thousand miles on the hitch, no signs of any issues.
