Given I've read through this thread and understand the high hitch weight of the 315RLTS, do you think the 2,000lb bars will be sufficient considering I'll be putting a Honda Goldwing (1K lbs by itself!) in the truck's bed? Should I get two sets of bars, one for when I have the bike with me and one set for when I don't?

(EDIT) That last question may be moot--the highest rating I can find on etrailer is 2K.

I bought mine from RVupgrades.com and I also went and bought 1500# bars(from pplmotorhomes.com both places were the lowest price for each) for the times I am not heavier( I just took a 12 day trip and used the 1500 bars I scaled the tongue at 1400# ) I also bought a tongue scale so I know what to use. I scaled mine with a full tank of water and it was 1550# so 2000 is more than necessary IMHO.

I think the 2000lb bars should work. With that new truck I don't think the extra weight of the Honda will matter. The Blue Ox will be more for taking weight off of the trucks receiver and not having to transfer weight back to the front axle.

Speaking with Blue Ox they suggest you don’t have “too much bar” as this will give a harsh ride. 10% either way is acceptable. I have the 1500lbs bars and they work excellent. My tow vehicle is a 2016 F450.

Blue ox way to go I'm new at this I have the 315 as well I use the Jack to raise trailer up before disconnect of bars and use the wrench that came with it. No tension easy turn of the wrench and bars are off without any kick back that knowledge came from reading this forum much thanks do glad I purchased grand design .
Grand design owners are the best get to go to my first rally in myrtle beach and I'm hoping to meet some of the people that have helped me get going and enjoying this new RV life

We just bought a 2022 315RLTS and the dealer is putting on a Blue Ox hitch system. We will tow with a 2016 F350 SRW. I will see on Monday just what exactly we get for bars. Assuming that there are no issues to be fixed after spending Monday night at the dealer we'll see how it tows on Tuesday.

This is a really old thread, but I can answer. My 315 coupler height is 24”.

    Good luck with your install.
