Further to my earlier comment . . .
I have made the changes described by Dan in post #8 of this thread.

I have slept on this "reconfigured" bed. It is level, firm and reasonably comfortable.

Well, the stats are in: Two adults on the couch, slept somewhat ok. not due to the bed, due to the restless little ones that move all over when asleep. My daughter and son-in-law said the bed is now fine. I believe it is a good thing. The only thing i will do upon our return home is to add the small plywood to the underside of the main part to hep in the event springs get to sagging. But for the main bed, the removal of cheap straps and addition of the 1/4 inch plywood did the trick. Now i just have to decide how to make it universal so i can make it uncomfortable if i don't want the guest to stay! ! ! check out he other post of mine or send me a note if more info is needed. For those that need to do the modify, check out all the info on these beds in this forum, spend about $25 and in about an hour or so, done! ! ! Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !

Dean And Cindy, we tried a 3" memory foam mattress topper on the sofa, my son in law weighs 250 and said it was ok. We tried to roll it up as small as possible and store it under the sofa but we could not quite get the sofa to close all the way so we store it under the master bed. It is a tempurpedic memory foam not at cheap investment at $250.00. we'll probably leave it at home unless we have guest along, why carry the extra weight. Hope this helps.

This couch makes a horrible sleeper sofa. Your feet stick up two inches in the air and it feels like you're sleeping in a hole. I tried turning around and that didn't work either. Grand Design used to come up with a fix for this problem, I can't believe more people aren't talking about it. Has anybody else talked to grandesign about this or found a comfortable solution?

I took a 2" foam pad and cut it to fit the top square of the bed. Meaning everything but the couch cushions. We then put a fitted sheet over it to hold the pad in place. My daughter and son in law have slept there for 4 nights. They said it's comfortable.

I gave up on all sleeper sofas years ago and just put the mattress on the floor.

Look at it this way, pretty good incentive for guests not overstaying their welcome.

Island Pond River, go back to page 3, check out what i did, and it is fine now. This of course is if your sofa sleeper is the same. But also try some of the other things referenced on the forum. Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !
