All 50 States Parks hike Jan. 1.

It's not just hikes going up along with RV parks going up in price, eventually all the state parks will follow suit. On Jan. 1 all 50 states are offering a hike to bring in the new year....

And as we've learned over the past few years, more and more people are going full time in an RV. But it's also due to the record increase in RV sales.....

For those of you that don't subscribe or don't know.....all of these links came from RV Business, a news magazine for the RV industry. A lot of interesting information (like the Grand Design recall) http://www.rvbusiness.com/2017/12/re...-rv-recalls-2/

and like the Kidde Fire Extinguisher recall..... http://www.rvbusiness.com/2017/12/ma...manufacturers/

Those first two links don't mention anything about price rises.

Indirectly. It's the laws of supply and demand......the American way. When occupancy goes up, price goes up. Maybe it's just me....after spending 40 years in property management.

The states need to step up and invest in their state Park campgrounds. I think the state Park campgrounds in Indiana where I live are well maintained and offer many amenities. Main problem is the lack of sites. Spur of the moment camping is nearly impossible most of the time because campgrounds are full every weekend. Thanks for on line reservations.
We get together with camping friends in Jan and Feb and try to plan out the summer. Reservations are made and all is good .
Another issue is size of sites. Some of these parks were designed and built in the 1930s. Campers were a lot smaller then, and many people tented. In some parks, I am limited in the number of sites my 32ft camper will fit. Time for an upgrade and expansion.

Is there a chance the first article was mid-read?

The article is about hikes as in walking, not price hikes.

Headline from the article “Parks Across All 50 States Offering First Day Hike.”

See reply #3 above. It's the Trump trickle down......when occupancy goes up in the state parks, the costs will follow suit....just like they have in private RV Parks. It all goes hand in hand...

I must be a little slow this morning, I cannot find anything in the first link about price increases.

Both article’s dont mention anything about price increases, i think what the OP was indicating was that if state parks become busier and busier that they will raise prices because of it.

Exactly.....it's the name of the game in property management. Do something to increase occupancy, so that we can increase revenue. All the RV publications that I've read have already said to expect availability to go down in 2018 and prices to go up. I got an email from RVreviews.net awhile back (maybe a couple of months ago) saying that they sent out a survey to RV park owners and they shared the results. Overwhelming majority (I think it was 98%) said that they planned on raising prices this year. Many of those indicated that they'd also raised prices in 2017. Just saying.....it's up, up and away.

As the pendulum swings in the RV industry I suspect that some of the big corporate property investors (like Prudential) will see this and start investing in building new, updated and even state of the art RV parks soon.
