    Shower Skylight Leaking

Just picked up my 2500RL 2 weeks ago. I noticed water in the shower pan after a rain storm. Skylight had a drop of water in the back outboard corner. When it stops raining I am headed onto the roof to investigate.

Sounds like a good idea. I had a void in a small area of my lap sealant when we picked up our trailer.

Found the skylight above the shower cracked at the flat part before it starts to curve up in the air to form the bubble. looks like it just split open. Applied some flex tape (as seen on TV)in 30 degree weather, has not completely stopped the leak. Planning on taking it off and reapplying this weekend in warmer weather.

Taking it in to the dealer Saturday sounds like they are going to take care of it. I took delivery less than 30 days ago.

I had the same issue but I think a rock hit the skylight. You are lucky the source was easy to find. My leak was more difficult to find and took a few rain storms to isolate and damaged the bathroom door molding in the process. I was out of warranty so installed the $30 replacement myself. So far so good.

I am interested in replacement parts as I will be doing most of the repairs myself. Did you order the skylight from Grand Design directly or through a dealer

I did order the skylight from Grand Design. Unfortunately they no longer sell direct to the public. You will have to order parts through a GD dealer. You should be able to do that over the phone and have it shipped to your location. The replacement was simple. Use a heat gun to soften the old lap sealant and put butyl tape between the skylight and roof when you reassemble.

The dealer replaced the skylight and it rained last night no leaks so that is good news. I got on the roof and looked at the replacement. Not impressed by the workmanship. It looks like they should have re-glued the rubber roof back down to the roof around the skylight prior to applying the sealant. The rubber roof is bulged up slightly around the skylight. Glad I did not purchase an extended warranty. I will be doing the maintenance myself from now on.
