    Thumbs up Black Tank Flush

I was wondering if there is a special way to winterize the Black Tank Flush line. I have a leak in mine, and the dealer said it might have froze. When I winterized the RV I pumped anit freeze through all the faucets, washer and dryer, shower in the bathroom, toilet, and outside shower. Is this flush line separate from the rest of the water system and if so how do you winterize it if it has to be winterized. I do not want this to happen again, if indeed it did freeze. I have winterized other RV's for the past five years and never had this happen.

In the past I've put an air fitting on it and blown it out with compressed air when I'm winterizing the rest of the camper.

    Hi Debby (@dchrist1733),

The black tank flush system runs on a dedicated line so it is a completely separate system. There is a one-way check valve behind the shower fixtures. Because of the height of the valve, water will drain from the line when not pressurized so winterization is not required. If you have further questions, we encourage you to continue working with your dealer for assistance.

    Best regards,

I recently purchased a 323BHS Reflection (last weekend) and the first time I used the Black tank Flush, water started spraying everywhere in my storage compartment. It appears that the leak is comming from the check valve, however I cant locate it. Where is the access panel for the black tank flush check valve located for the 323BHS reflection model?

    Thank You.

Check valve found. For those of you who have a corner shower, the check valve is located behind the shower. You need to remove the clear plastic handle in the shower (4 screws) and it is there. My check valve is leaking and dealer will send me a new one.

    Hi @haby10,

Glad you located the access to the check valve behind the washcloth holder in the shower (directly below the faucet) in your unit. The check valve itself is a black valve with spin-on fittings and black lines.

We just took our 2015 323bhs on our inaugural run. I'm glad I happened to have read this post several days ago, because we had the exact same issue (water spraying everywhere internally) when we hooked up the black water flush. I luckily turned it off right away. What are the chances that this could be a coincidence? It sounds to me that this was a bad batch of check valves. Shouldn't my dealer have picked this up through a bulletin put out by GD?

Thanks to the membership here for posting this great info. It is kind of funny though, when we shopped for this unit, one thing I found remarkable was the only single complaint/critique I found on the owner's forum was the black flush valve. And we RV'ers are known for being picky about little details. Great unit! Love it!

I purchased the "Winterizing Hand Pump Kit" (Camping World item # 4411) for that reason. Connect that to the black water wash connector and flush it with anti-freeze. I've never had any problems with it freezing. Good Luck.

Update: today I pulled off the access panel in the pass thru, as well as the panel in the shower. Connected up the black water flush. Fire away. No leaks? Now I'm guessing that check valve just ships a little "sticky" when it is brand new? Mystery.

Anyway, add to the list another thing I LOVE about this coach - everything is easy to get to.
