2600 RB fishing wiring from Kitchen Fan for Bedroom Fan w/ Pictures

Ok, I had some time on my hands while at South Padre Island to prewire a Bedroom fan in our 2600RB. Only fished or ran wire 3'. The Maxxair Maxxfans 5300K (bathroom) and 5100K (bedroom and kitchen) will be ordered when we get home.

All you need is a straightened coat hanger and a square bit to remove the existing fan/vent trim.

Step 1. Remove trim screws and trim, put in safe place.
Step 2. Tape string or wire to the end of a straightened coat hanger.

The Maxxair Maxxfans 5300K (bathroom) and 5100K (bedroom and kitchen) will be ordered when we get home. I'll be ready to pull the old vent and fan when the new stuff arrives from etrailer.com

It did take longer to post this than the actual work, oh well.

This may be a stupid question, but why did you have to run the additional wires?

Excellent question! The 2600RB doesn't come with a vent fan in the bedroom, only a vent. My point was to other 2600RB owners: it's oh so easy to run power to the bedroom for a vent fan. Some Imagine owners face bigger mechanical challenges than the folks who frequent this forum.

I have 3 Maxxair Maxxfan Deluxes in the garage waiting to be installed this week. My wife likes a fan in the bedroom regardless of season.

You're correct. I haven't use the vent since last October. We have the vent pillows in now. I had forgotten that there is no fan there.

Rebecca, thanks for the question, and Rivercityjeff thanks for the link to your thread before I even got to this job. I plan to replace the worthless living area fan with a Maxxfan too and then I planned to put the living area fan in the bedroom. I assumed, incorrectly, obviously, that the BR had terminated connections for a powered fan, so now I know that I have to fish instead.

Wouldn't it have been easier to get to the wires for the overhead bedroom light (about 14 inches away)? I haven't looked into mounting a fan in the bedroom yet, but I believe the wiring actually run parallel to the vent.

Maybe. It would have been a shorter distance 14" vs 36".

However, at the fan opening there was a bunch of room to easily access the existing fan wires and visual check for obstructions. I like EZ.

Great post! I just bought a 2600rb and the Salesguy claimed the BR vent was pre- wired for a fan. Had my doubts but now I know it’s no biggie if I gotta fish the wire. Thank you for the info. Ordering new fan today!
