Looking to pull the trigger on a 278bh next year. It has one of the best layouts in my opinion. I need to get the truck first and it will probably be a 3500 Ram SW which will give me a boat load of extra payload even with a crew cab and 8ft bed.

Not sure why anyone would try to tow any 150 series with an F150 lightning that can only max tow 10000 pounds and has a 2000 max payload? Electric trucks for towing are not ready for prime time yet, 80 miles towing on a charge!

Well we go camping where there are no electrical hookups mainly, so I guess we would have to charge the ev truck with our dino fuel generator, lol

We tow a 280RS with a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. The payload sticker reads 2,602 lbs. The truck has a 6.0l gas engine and 6 speed automatic transmission. We have over 60k miles towing with this truck spread between three trailers. We started with a 21' travel trailer, then a 230RL and now the 280RS.

This set up is very stable in cross winds and winding mountain roads. My rock solid average mpg is 8mpg on regular gas.

Tow with an F250 diesel 4x4 with short bed and use the king pin wedge on the hitch so I don’t have to use a slider. Tows great.
    No picture handy.

No complaints. Temperatures are steady and in the green. I hold it at about 4,200 rpms and listen to it's rich V8 sound. Never the first and never the last truck up the hill. In tow mode, the transmission downshifts when I apply the brakes going downhill. We have over 125k miles now and the truck still runs strong.

There's a YouTube channel named The Fast Lane Truck that performs towing test with all trucks over the Eisenhower pass in Colo. It's very informative.

Thanks for the info. I have watched all the Fast Lane Truck videos they are good. I was just looking for some 1st hand info and i see you live on the eastern side of the Sierras so you must have towed up a hill or two.

Our truck has a tow limit of about, 14,000 lbs. Our 230RL weighed just under 9k and the 280RS just under 10k. Our traveling buddies have SRW one ton diesels and tow Solitude 310GK's. I get 8mpg and they get about 10+ - mpg. They tow "heavy" 14k+. Their payloads are about 1,000 lbs. more than ours. They take advantage of the diesels power and exhaust braking. We are all happy because our rigs match their respective abilities. If I was towing heavy like they do, We would have the diesel.

    Hi man!
Any chance you were able to stop by a CAT scale?
Will be doing this exact setup and curious about pin weight with cargo.
    Thanks!
