Landing Gear
I blew a second fuse when bringing up the landing gear in prep for leaving on the next leg of our trip. While experimenting, running the gear up and down I could tell that there was some binding at about the 3/4 up and got worse as the gear traveled further up. Has anyone else had this issue, and what might be the cause? The gear goes up high enough for us to travel. Thanks for any suggestions.

Just a quick update. Found out that the jack screw in the follow leg is bound up. Informed JD at Grand Design, I had a new leg in my hand three days later. Installed the new leg and everything works great. Now one can barely hear the motor when extending or retracting the legs. The support we all get from GD is the best, we will be a GD customer and billboard for them for a long time. Thanks all that helped us at GD and Dave who helped with the initial diagnosis.

Glad to hear that you found the cause. When you see the campers moved around the dealer's lot with a attachment on a front loader of a tractor, you can understand how they get bent...hitting the ground while moving. It looks like one of mine was bent at the mounting point but isn't blowing fuses.

It was a piece of cake. Keep in mind that I was a certified ASE Master Tech. I kept the truck attached to the trailer for support. I then removed the crossbar, I then ran the drive leg to isolate which side was the problem. I then tried to move the follow leg, which would not budge. To take out the leg, one first has to remove the foot, then remove the pin for the drop leg. Next I used a zip tie to lock in the drop led. Then I removed the two bolts from the retaining brackets (these hold the leg in). Next just slowly pull the top of the leg towards the center of the RV. Take care not to drop the leg through the hole. Once the leg is free it can easily be lifted out through the front compartment. Hope this helps.
