    Towing 303rls

I have a 2WD 2014 Silverado 2500 with 4.10 rear end and 6.0 gas motor. Crew cab regular bed. Anyone tow a 303rls with this type truck. Specs say I can tow it but I want info from someone doing it. 303rls dry is 9,200 and Gvw 11,995. I will carry about 1,500lbs in the trailer. Dry hitch would be
1,660 with 1,500 cargo would be
1,819. I will not change truck-will change 5th if I need to. Thanks for your info.

We towed our 303 with a Chevy 2500HD gas, payload of the truck was only 2604#. The dry pin weight of the 303 was to be 1685#, actual was 1920#, the loaded pin was over 2200# couple that with the weight of hitch passengers fuel and stuff we were 500# over the GVWR of the truck. . . . so I traded for a Chevy 3500HD Diesel

    Hitch weight - 200#
    Running Boards - 75#
    Roll-N-Lock bed cover - 100#

sk73400 - With 2WD and gasoline engine, your payload might be comfortably above the pin weight . . . which is usually the limiting factor for towing 5th wheel trailers. What is your payload? (On the door label as “passengers and cargo must never exceed this weight”.

Don't think you'll have any problem. I tow mine with a 14 250 Ford with 3.73 and 6.2L. Won't drag race up a mountain but I can run with with the semis and other RVs on the Interstate.

If'n my 2500 had had your 3115# payload I probably would not have traded. Between the brochure info (truck / camper) I lost 600# of payload and was only 500# over the GVWR of the truck. . . . .

PS: But do like the sound of the new Diesel. . . .

Thank you all for posting. I think it is unreal the difference in printed specs from GD in reference to dry pin weight and real actual dry pin weight. Diesels are nice. I had a Chevy 3500 dually pulling 16K when my wife and I full timed for 2 years. Keep your fuel clean. Mine was a 2011. If the fuel pump blew it was like a grenade going off and sending metal down your injectors and cylinders. 15K repair. I hope they fixed that in newer models. They are very strong beast when it comes to pulling.

Thanks for the post. I have decided to look for a used 29RS but I am going to do more research on dry weight from factory-something is not right about being that far off on weights.

Don’t get too worked up over payload an GVWR on a 250/2500. Manufacturers play games with those trucks for licensing, insurance and taxes to keep GVWR below 10,000lbs. Axle weights will tell the true capacity of the truck.
