Thumbs up Gap opening in bottom of narrow cabinets to right of fridge in 369rl

Is it standard to have an opening at the bottom of the narrow cabinets that is actually an opening into the basement storage compartment? We removed the wood wall in the basement storage to fix our heating ductwork that has unravelled so bad that we get no heat in the bedroom or bathroom, and I can see into the kitchen at the bottom of those skinny cabinets to the right side of the fridge. My cat looked at me and meowed.... I was shocked that this was wide open, granted it is only about an inch or two high but it is as long as the cabinets, and is directly above the kick plate.

Thanks for any help with this.....

Please note that the ductwork for the heating system is very thin and this is our first camping trip in our new rig and the tubular heating duct has unravelled badly!

    Thanks, Jeanette

    Hi Jeanette (@sjegee1),

The opening at the top of the toe-kick in the hutch is intentional, and serves as the cold air return for the furnace. Please DO NOT block or obstruct this opening!

    Best regards,
