I think the best advice is to run the max cold inflation pressure on the tires sidewall which should be 80 psi. I heard of others adjusting the tire pressure to the actual load on the tire...there's inflation vs. load graphs on the net. The problem with that is you must know the actual axle weight to set them. Set at 80 psi and foregetaboutit.

80 PSI, and use a tire pressure monitoring system if you can.

I have a brochure stating that the tires of my Solitude are filled with Nitrogen. Do you test the pressure in them the same way as you do on an air filled tire ? I have never had a tire filled with nitrogen before,so I am a newbie on the maintenance. I like that it supposedly will maintain pressure better than air though.
Anyone out there dealt with tires filled with nitrogen?
Thanks, Jeanette

When I swap my tires out they will have plain old air. To me the benefits of nitrogen are outweighed by the trouble involved in finding nitrogen to fill them. I carry an air compressor onboard so I can check and adjust tire pressure before pulling out for the day. If you leave early or travel late there may not be a tire store around to adjust. I would rather have a properly inflated tire with plain old air than an under inflated nitrogen filled tire. Just my humble opinion.
For those that do keep the nitrogen are you finding it difficult to find places to fill?Chris and Debbie

With nitrogen filled tires, you check them exactly the same way you do an air filled tire. Just use your tire pressure gauge. Even if you have nitrogen filled tires, you can still adjust them with a compressor or air filling station if need be. The main benefit to nitrogen filled tires is that due to the larger molecular size of nitrogen, they don't have the tendency to lose air pressure as fast as air filled tires.

I run between 78 an 80 cold in my tires. I use a tire monitor too. I've got over 7,000 miles on them now with no sign of wear...
