    Bedroom powered vent

Has anyone added a powered vent fan in the bedroom?

Where did you get the 12 v from .

I don't want to tap into the power for the lights ( like to use the switch ) ,

I had a Create-a-breeze power vent fan installed in the bath before we picked up the camper. I just recently stole the original fan and switch and installed them in the bedroom vent. It's not much of a fan, but I think it'll work adequately plus the price was right...free! When I removed the vent surround in the bedroom, there was a bundle of 12V wires cabled-tied together. The orange/white pair was switched power for the overhead lights...the pink/white pair was unswitched 12V power used for the optional A/C. The fan works...we'll have to see how well on our upcoming trip.

Most units I looked at had a sign saying prewired for AC in the bedroom vent. This would mean you would have 12V and 110V both inside the area.

We purchased our Solitude last year and will have the 1 year anniversay in May. We traded our Cedar Creek 5th for the Solitude and it has been great. I've added a swing out TV in the storage compartment, added a piano hinge and created a door with latches to be able to access all equipment behind the panel in the storage compartment, and a few other things. The one issue I have is due to the lack of a bedroom vent it gets extremly hot as physics shows that heat rises and as the bedroom is the highest point it builds up to sweltering temperatures. Even if its a little cooler outside the heat still rises.

A thread response indicated that the bedroom is prewired. My question where is the wire to the ceiling and/or wall?

To Grand Design, if your techs read these issues can you please comment.

    Thank you in advance,
    Art.

Welcome to the forum Art & Terry!

Art, you may want to go down to the Tech Corner and ask your question.

Hi Art and Terry and welcome to the forums.
Your Solitude did not come with a 2nd air? We looked at a couple lots here in Louisiana and every Solitude had 2 airs. That's strange that a dealer in Texas would order one with out the 2nd air already installed. I really thought that 2 airs might be a standard in the Solitude line. I guess I was mistaken.

Do as Steve suggested. The GD Service Techs do read the forums, but sometimes miss questions posted in the general area of the forums. They are pretty faithful about monitoring the Tech section.
    Good luck with your air!

Thanks for the reply. Our Solitude does have the 2 air units on top. I was asking our members if a vent can be installed in the bedroom ceiling. There are times it is so nice outside that we like the flow of fresh air going through and it would be nice just to open the vent and let the hot/warm air out.

Ahhh...that makes sense. Hopefully someone can answer that soon. Adding another vent to the top of the camper sounds complicated.

I installed a FantasticFan in the bedroom vent of our Reflection. There was a 12v circuit (not switched) that I could tap. The fan has a 3 amp fuse prewired to protect the fan.

I just installed a fan in the bedroom. I found the 12v but it was grey and white. My 12v unterminated so I just removed some of the insulation verified it was 12v cut and spliced into these wires. This was not switched. I installed a Fantastic 4000, it's very quiet and works great. It's not a difficult job, the most time consuming part is getting all the old sealer cleaned up. Good luck!
