Upgraded ceiling vent fans
Just completed replacing the main living area factory toy fan with a Fan-Tastic model 6600R and replaced the bath vent fan with a model 4000. Topped them both off with some Fan-Tastic vent covers. All in all it went well. The hardest part was removing the old sealer and adhesive.

Those are great additions. We had the dealer install both fans. But no cover on the one with the rain sensor, fantastic fan recommends not to cover that one.
Having that remote in the living area makes opening the vent a snap.Marcy & Gary

I'm considering making the upgrade as well. Could you tell me about the remote, in their information it talks about wall mounting? How is the 6600 operated? Is the fan quiet? Does it move enough air to feel some circulation? Where you able to use the existing holes? How did you seal everything up? Thanks in advance, Boomer

Boomer- The remote is handheld like a TV remote but does include a wall mount bracket to hang it on. The 6600 is remote control via handheld but can be operated manually if desired. It's very quiet and on high moves a LOT of air. The unit fits into the existing fan/vent opening. You'll need a roll of RV vent butyl tape for between the fan and roof joint and some self-leveling sealant (1 tube per vent) to finish the job. Dicor makes both products.
Like I mentioned in the OP, the most difficult part of the whole upgrade is removing the old caulking. You must be careful not to tear the rubber roof membrane.Julie and Kevin - Waterloo, IA

I just got the vortex 2 replacement fans to replace the fan in the kitchen and bathroom , and added a fantastic fan in the bedroom .
The vortex 2 is nice because you don't have to remove the shroud on top and it has 3 speeds . It is a 5 min job , good for the bathroom .
Fantastic fan in the bedroom is the best because it has a thermostat . Love those cool nights , we shut the bedroom door and turn on the fan , and it pulles air across you making it perfect for sleeping .

I called Fantastic CS and found out that the styrofoam piece that covers the lid is also the gasket. Anybody ever use this for the gasket?
