    Metal Valve Stems On Wheels

    Hello Everyone
Anyone have metal valve stems installed on the factory aluminum wheels? Looking at some of the requirements/recommendations from tire pressure monitor systems they want metal valve stems. On my last trailer I was told they couldn't use metal valve stems by the tire shop due to the shape of the wheel where the nut goes on the valve stem.

I had metal valves stems installed and my tires balanced before I put my TPMS on. No problems on my trailer.

Thanks. The TST's are on special direct this week and they are extending the warranty if you buy this month. I wanted to put them on my last trailer but didn't due to the valve stem issue. I am wondering if I should take a chance. Guess I could recover some of the cost on eBay if it didn't work out. Rather avoid that if possible. Did you get the flow through ones or just the cap type? The Flow thru seem pretty big. I don't want something sticking way out where road debris could knock it off.

I put the flow through TSTs on mine, and they don't appear to stick out too far to me.

    Floyd,

I see you also have the 303RLS, did you leave the original tires/valve stems on prior to installing TPMS flow thru or did you change tires and have metal stems installed? Inquiring minds want to know.

So it sounds like my concerns about the flow thru are unwarranted. Good to know. I like luckeyd1 also want to know if you had the valve stems changes to metal ones. Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I'm still running the original valve stems on mine, but I'll rectify that as soon as the rig gets out of the shop for some warranty work. I also think I'll get the tires/wheels balanced at the same time.

I replaced the valve stems and had the tires balanced while waiting for the TPMS. Next day it came in. I have one of the very first 303s produced and still have the original tires. When I replace them I'll do like I always do....Maxxis M8008 ST radial.
