Norcold 1210 4 door defrost cycle
Getting ready for this current trip, I started our refer a couple days ahead. I have wireless monitors in the freezer and fridge. Within 4 or 5 hours it had cooled to 10*/40*, great! Loaded up and headed out, arriving at site about 11:30. Late afternoon I noticed freezer at 26*, fridge at 44*. WTF? Switched to propane, cranked it up to 9. Temp started coming down, after a couple hours switched back to AC, set at 7. By morning it's back to 2* in freezer, 34* fridge. Held these temps rock solid for 2 days with many trips in and out of fridge. Ice cream was hard.
We were out for the day yesterday, returned about 9PM. Freezer at 26*, Fridge at 46*. Shut refer off for 20 seconds, turned back on to AC, set to 9. After 15 minutes it heated up another degree. Switched to propane, set to 9. Cooled down quick. When it got to 15*/39* switched to AC, set to 7. This morning we're back to 3*/ 33*.
Called Norcold. They said it does a defrost cycle every 2 days. Never had any ice build up. I said defrost doesn't mean ruin your food every 2 days. She said take it to a service center.
Anybody else deal with this? Is there a way to defeat the defrost cycle short of turning the thing off every day to reset the 48 hour clock?
Oh yeah, ambient temps are 70 and below. Doors shut and pass the dollar bill test. Fans work, no obstructions in chimney. When it cools it cools fast, hold temp well, then boom. Me no likey.

Big Traveler,
Did you ever resolve the defrost issue. Am having the same on a 21 GD Reflection Norcold 1210. Already replaced the cooling unit for extended/sustained warm temps when it should have been cooling. Your thoughts? Oh, and got to the point that Norcold is shipping me a new refrigerator (same model) under warranty.

To the best of my knowledge..you need to power it off every two days to defeat the defrost timer.

Since Cheifblueman has not been on the forum since Sept. 2020.....I seriously doubt you will get a reply or any kind of info from him. It's always a good idea to look and see when their last post or forum activity was. It's also a good idea, if their activity has not been months and months....or even years like this one, to start your own thread with your question. Another option is to do a search in the forum and see what pops up in regard to similar activity.
