Installed New Inverter, Batteries & Sub Panel.

I replaced the 1000 watt inverter with a Xantrex XC2000 inverter/converter. In addition to the refrigerator circuit I also put the Living Room, Bedroom, and GFI circuits on the inverter with a new sub panel. I added a remote for the inverter too in the location of the original inverter on/off switch.

Added 4 6V AGM batteries too so I didn't have to bother with venting. They fit nicely in a tub I got at Lowes so I can put a lid on it too. Obviously I had to rewire the DC a bit and added a 300 amp fuse and cutoff switch.

I left the old converter in place just in cast the Xantrex fails; I leave it off via the CB in the main panel.

I rearranged the circuits in my main panel to try and share the load(s). note: I don't have a washer, dryer, or dishwasher.

Why do you put those batteries in a tub? Do they leak?

They don't leak and can be mounted in any position. I just wanted them isolated from the rest of the compartment. I didn't want something accidentally falling on them and/or shorting them out. I suppose there were a lot of different solutions. Putting them in a tub was cheap and easy.

    Nice.
I like the fact that you have a back up charger. That’s a good idea.
I hope mine never fails, it weighs like 60 lbs. LOL
How many amp hours total is your bank, I don’t see it mentioned.

Each battery has a 20 amp hour rate of 190. Since I connected two in series to get 12v and then those 2 pairs in parallel I figure I have 380 amps. (I hope I calculated correctly).

Your math is right traveldawg. Your total capacity is 380 Amps with a usable capacity of 228 Amps (60% of the total capacity, some will argue you should only use 50%, but each their own)
