Bleeding brakes
Quick question.
When bleeding hydraulic brakes, should the pump shut off once pressure is on the system?

The pump never shuts off when the brakes are applied or the break-away switch is pulled.
Edit: Probably not applicable to your question, but the trailer pump will not apply below a certain crawl speed where the truck brakes can easily handle stop-and-go crawling traffic. This is a function of the truck brake controller.

Rob,
Thanks for the info. Your write up on the wiring help me connect the pump. Easy to connect.
I installed my pump in the drivers side LP compartment. Can't remember where I saw some else had done that. Easy connection to the hard brake line and not too bad access to the pump to check fluid level.
Done with first round of bleeding. Road test tomorrow.

Jim - I bled mine twice before I took it for the first test run. Didn’t feel as solid as I was hoping for. Talked to Bill at Stopyourtrailer and he said it takes three rounds of bleeding. So, I bled it a third time and saw more air bubbles. Next test run left skid marks where the trailer tires locked up . Been solid ever since.

Jim - The pump has a two step sound . . . like it shifts gears. This has something to do with reaching apply pressure and then maintaining it. Until you get all the air out of the system, you won’t get this “normal” two step apply sound.

Performance Trailer Braking actually has a video on their web-site recommending the LP compartment as being an ideal location. Uses space that would otherwise go to waste, they say.
But I don't know whether it's a good idea to make electrical connections in a confined space that may experience propane leaks. Anybody else have a concern about this?

The electrical connections are actually in the center compartment. The wiring is feed through the wall and connected in the wire bundle.
