I'd just tell you to make your camping lot reservations. Some of those Pigeon Forge car shows are beyond your imagination. Every parking place in every parking lot will be filled with cars--many of which are for sale. Serious cash changes hands at such events.

At 8:00 a.m., you'll see people setting up lawn chairs at red lights on the strip. They come back at 5:00 p.m. and sit until late night talking to all the rod drivers that stop at the red lights. (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg is like something out of the past.)
