RevRon,
The chains in your picture are not routed as per instructions. Look at page 23 step 9. They should be routed BETWEEN the spring bars.

I know this is a little late response for some, but let me share my experience with Pro Pride.
I pulled the trigger on a PP as I was having difficulty keep my set up on the road. I agree the PP hitch is a great hitch and does what it is designed for. It's heavy, keeps you in control going down the road and both PP and Hensley are very proud of their product, $2200+ investment. Great customer support from PP as I had to talk to the owner to dial it in on my set up.
BUT, on a 2500 mile trip we ran into two situations that cause great stress and frustration. I learned that if the tow vehicle and hitch are not inline with each other it is very difficult to connect the two. Meaning if the tow vehicle is at a upperward angle and the hitch is level your forcing the tow vehicle in a downward motion and the hitch will not angle up enough to insert the stinger. Over two hours to finally get it contacted by ramming speed allowed it to be locked in place. The other difficult connection is if the two are at a angle to connect. The hitch wants to move around not allowing the stinger to be inserted. You must be as inline and level as possible to make a connection. In most cases these connections can be done with very little stress, but some cases you are not able to have the room, levelness and need to disconnect to stay within your camp boundaries. Let's just say we were the talk of the campground that morning.
These are good hitches but when we were driving away from that campground my wife said we will not be traveling again with that hitch. Sold it over the winter season and went back to a Equalizer set up and have had great success with that since. This season I said numerous times "I'm so glad we don't have the PP setup". We would've repeated one of these situations again for sure.Last edited by PAPAJOJO; 09-19-2020 at 12:01 PM.

My wife and I installed our ProPride hitch ourselves and neither of us is what you would call mechanically inclined.
The people at ProPride are the most helpful support group I have encountered since we began RVing. The owner and his
people are reachable with a simple phone call, we got our questions answered on the 1st call every time.
As my wife reminded me at least 100 times READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.
We are older than your average campers 79 and 69. We did it over a 2 day period and it works as advertised and
I find that unusual in todays world.
I did not own a torque wrench, they sell them.
A very satisfied ProPride customer:

P.S. Hitching and unhitching is different than hitching to a ball, to me not more difficult just different.Last edited by attaboy; 09-19-2020 at 02:13 PM.

I too had some hitching issues, even though everything seemed lined up. I think the sharp edge off the stinger would catch on the side of the receiver and jam things up.
My solution: round off the sharp corners of the stinger. Not an issue since then. I’m going out to the RV tomorrow. I’ll take a picture or two and post them up then.
