2800BH - Curt Frame mounted Receiver Hitch

Has anyone installed a Curt Frame mounted Receiver hitch on their 2800BH?

    https://www.curtmfg.com/part/13703

Looking to mount items on back and know not to trust that square bumper... Not towing anything lol.

Just hoping someone has done one and has some pics and example how far down the hitch ended up etc. Would have to relocate spare tire as well since it’s normally cantered on the rear of the square bumper.

    Cheers

Something like this welded to the frame would be stronger and much steadier. We had one on the back of a Surveyor travel trailer and I could jump up and down on it without it moving.

Nope but using something like this is better then mounting anything to the square tube bumper. Are you thinking bicycles and the like,? You must have scoped out the RV's rear frame and measured it so you know the hitch will fit up to 72 inches wide. Looks like it should work ok, if it was me I would probably forget to counter balance the additional weight on the rear of the RV. ;-)

OP, I have that Curt hitch I removed from my Passport before trading it for my Imagine 2400BH. Unfortunately, there are some issues with mounting it. I need to remove the underbelly to see if it is possible at all, but the bumper pieces are welded under the main frame which means this hitch will end up further forward than I would like. I guess you could do an extender, but I don’t like that either. If I get it mounted I will post back

Did you end up installing this? The question is where to relocate the jacks, am thinking of welding to the bottom of the Curt tube.

Upside down photo of my rig, went to manage photos and there is now way to turn the photo around????

Is that welded just to the bumper, or does it extend through the bumper and welded on both sides?

I moved my spare tire to under the frame and made a mount for my Honda 2000 generator to fit on the back bumper.

If you see the photos above that one, I created a square tubing frame and welded to the I beam, then welded a 36” long Curt Raw steel receiver tube to the square tubing frame I build. Notched out the rear bumper and welded around it for added strength and cosmetic. Plus I wanted the hitch as high as possible without using angles.
