337 Interior Handle on Stairs
Has anyone else had any problems with the small wooden handle going up the stairs coming out of the wall or working loose? We had some friends stop out to the camper, they are both 75 years old and very small people. She grabbed the handle to assist herself going up the stairs and the handle pulled right out of the wall. As I inspected it to see why a safety handle would just pull out of the wall so easily I discovered that it is held in two wood screws that are screwed into 3/16" Masonite paneling. Really? What sort of engineer would OK this for a safety handle? Funny thing is right across the hallway is an outside wall that has aluminum studs that could have had machine screws installed instead of wood screws. I am afraid to take it back to the dealer because I fear they will just move it up or down and then I will have four holes in the wall and still no handle going up the stairs.
