Do I need vent covers?
We are purchasing our first RV and the salesperson asked if we wanted them to put vent covers on before we picked up the travel traiiler. We both said we weren't sure. So, my question to you is, do we???

We didn't think so, and had owned and camped for 20 years with 3 campers that had vents. Never a problem until a severe hail storm cracked the plastic and rain poured in. After replacing the cover, minimal cost, I bought and installed 2 vent covers for the Solitude. It is rather easy job.
So yes on the vent covers.

Vent covers are great. You can keep the vents open when it rains. I leave them open during winter storage to ventilate the rig and no snow gets in.

Installed them when our rig was new, great when it’s raining, also keeps leaves, twigs and bugs out. We wouldn’t have an RV without them.

We have 3 vents in our Imagine. I had the dealer install one maxair cover. I can get some ventilation when it rains and I leave it open when between trips. Keeps the inside temp down somewhat.

Thanks for the good information. I grew up camping and didn't know about the vent covers. We always just closed our vents while traveling, when it rained, or when we left for any period of time when rain was in the forecast. Sounds like a great idea. We'll definitely add that to our list.

If you have an inclination towards DIY projects, and if you don't mind climbing up on the roof, then vent covers are one of the easier items to install yourself.

I live in Western Oregon and camp a lot in the rainy weather. The humidity needs somewhere to get out. The covers over the vents are a must have as far as I'm concerned. I had the dealership put them on all 3 for free as a part of the closing deal on our Momentum.

I'll either install them, or have the dealer do it at time of purchase, along with better vent fans. Those are great to move air when cooling things down, or when you're trying to keep moisture down.

I’m a big fan of vent covers for all the reasons mentioned. I’ll never be without them again.
