    I use regular pine 2x12's. But Home Depot is right around the corner!! Thanks for the tip. Worth tring- hate taking the rig to the dealer if I don't have to

    Gary, I don't think it matters whether the pads are pressure treated or not.

    We bought the Catepillar fluid recommended and hubby will be working on that - have to syphon off a quart and add a quart of the new. It was $27 from the Cat dealer...I read your post about the wife being paranoid and read it to my hubby and said NO I didn't write that...since I used to lay in bed and worry the whole front was going to hit the ground. :-)

    Anyone have a reccomendation for a certain brand of silicon lubricant?

    I was wondering if anyone though about using Hydraulic Cylinder Cover so they are protected from the elements? These are quite common on equipment and really do protect the rods from dirt and the like. With the covers one should not have to keep cleaning and oiling every week.

    I have used Liquid Wrench Silicon lubricant. Never thought about using hydraulic cylinder covers. Let us know how they work.
