Poll: Have you had a Westlake tire fail?

Since this topic has resulted in so many discussions on this forum, I'm curious who has actually experienced a Westlake tire failure. I replaced mine with Goodyear G614's when we took delivery.

You need to expand this poll a bit. I had a blowout on my rig. It was brand new out of the factory and couldn't even make the 500 miles to my dealer without tire problems. Then, I refused delivery on the coach until all six tires were replaced by the dealer with Sailuns. The only reason the spare is still a Westlake is because I couldn't get the dealer to bite the bullet on that one. In my book, Westlakes are in the same league with Blowmax (Towmax).

Your experience sounds like a yes vote. What poll option did I forget?

I'm curious to know how many miles for the people that have had blowouts.

The option to check "yes" AND "replaced ...", because I had a blowout AND replaced all of these mediocre tires. Don't know how you'd do it without double counting though.

I have two "yes" hits. One Westlake started leaking (don't know from where) when 4 months old. Dealer just replaced it with another Chinese tire (Mastertrack?). Had another Westlake get a big bubble on the inside of the tire while parked in an RV park. Luckily we found it because the tire monitor said the tire was only 20 pounds. We replaced that one with a Goodyear Endurance. Have since replaced the other 3 tires with the Endurance ones.

Two weeks after taking delivery, I discovered a split on the sidewall of one of my Westlakes. I promptly replaced all 4 with Sailun Load Range G's. After 4500 miles of our 5500 mile summer trip, not a single problem with the Sailuns so far.

We had a catastrophic failure on a Westlake on our last trip. They had just hit the 2 year old mark according to the DOT stamp. All have now been replaced with Goodyears.

I had a bulge/bubble in the sidewall at about 500 miles. Not a blowout or tread separation, but replaced with Sailuns perhaps a bit sooner than I would have. Now, at 18,000 miles, there have been no tire issues and the ride improved noticeably.

    Safe Travels.
