Bedroom to hot

When camping in cool conditions when furnace runs at night, bedroom becomes unreasonably hot. I have seen post not to restrict airflow to bedroom, what is the answer, living room is relatively cool when furnace set at 62 and outside temp 25?????? Sweating in bedroom???

Hi Mike,

We have experienced the same situation.
I think the caution about not restricting flow is primarily about intake air to the furnace through the under-hutch opening and the grate behind the toilet.
We leave the fireplace electric heat running at night, which warms the main area and delays the furnace coming on. This seems to keep the bedroom a little cooler than the main area.

We do exacrly the same thing as Cate and Rob. We like our bedroom cooler so we just leave the fireplace on and it will keep the chill off.

We have had the same problem but the problem comes when you have to keep those tanks from freezing and you HAVE to run that danged heater while sleeping. That is why the next rig I get it will have electric tank heaters. I have come to hate the heating system in our 337. But, to be fair, it is not unlike any other furnace in most rigs.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Since you have more experience with fireplace, than I, (first one in rv) Temperature control is not a thermostat? Would you provide setting you use, save us some trial and error? Thanks!!!!!!

Hi Mike,

This is not only our first RV with a fireplace . . . this is our first RV . . . ever !
The fireplace warms the room where the thermostat is. So, it takes a long while for this room to get cool enough to turn on the furnace. The bedroom stays comfortably cool.

You can set the Fireplace to Low/High/Thermostat.
We typically run ours on Low . . . which keeps the main living area (and the furnace thermostat) warmer than the bedroom.

I don't know if the fireplace is the same as the Reflection, but ours has several settings, which also includes a thermostat in 5 degree increments. I usually set it at 75, which keeps it at 70, due to the controls being in close proximity to the blower.

Tank heaters are not near as important as your plumbing is. Your plumbing will freeze way before your tanks do. Due to the quanity of water in the tanks. If you are worried about your tanks freezing just pour a little RV antifreeze down your drains. The reason that your furnace needs to run is to keep your plumbing from freezing. And it will not freeze if your water line is heated and it dosent drop well below freezing for several hours.
