Towing 385TH
We just looked at the 385TH yesterday and loved it. Problem is we have a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 crew cab, long box, Laramie with an automatic transmission. We've been getting mixed reviews on if we'd be able to tow this or not. Any feedback from current 385TH owners?

No, No and No. You will be way over pin weight, way over rear axle rating, and blow your GCVWR out the door. That unit is dually territory at a minimum, and probably, 450, 550 territory.

What do you think about towing the 355TH with this rig?

I tow my 380 with a 3500HD SRW. I understand that "fully" loaded this would be over my GCVWR, but we pack light and weight it before the trip.

With 3700# hitch weight and 15,500# total dry weight, you'd do best with a F450 size truck. Throw in some ATV's, UTV's and 110 gallons of water, and you'll be seriously heavy.
And I used to think that some bunk model 42' trailers were heavy.

Towing 385TH with 2500 - I switched to 3500HD DRW
When I bought my 385TH I had a 2012 2500HD diesel with air bags. Lets just say I now own a 3500HD DRW diesel. Too much king pin weight for that 2500HD. Overall just too much weight all the way around. The 355TH is still heavy for king pin weight. That is the down side to having such a big toy hauler with a double axle instead of triple. They put more weight up front.

DO NOT TRY TO TOW THESE UNITS WITHOUT A DUALLY!!!!!!! Not even the 355!!! My 2011 Chevy 3500 was the first year for a 21,000 lb tow rating, and that should be the lowest that you tow with. With this trailer behind you you know it is there, and you want the best foundation to tow with. With these weights (over 16,000 lb) do you really want to be pushing your luck. Not like you are overweight with a 4,000 lb trailer. I took my fully loaded trailer and the 2006 Ram over the scales..... 27500 lbs, that is some crazy weights to be trying with a 3/4 ton. Yes a 450 or higher would be better, but in my opinion Ford can't make a reliable diesel, so I went with the Chevy.
Of course you can make your own decision on the matter, but I towed mine with a 2006 Ram 3500 dually cummins, and after one 40 mile trip, I traded it for the 2011 Chevy 3500. What a huge difference and they are both 1 tons.
Best of luck on your decision..Korey SE WI

Towing with the new 3500HD DRW
Just got back from a trip this past weekend. Attached are a few pictures of the whole rig. After reviewing the weights you will see why you need a DRW to pull these toy haulers.
