That drive axle weight is brutal, heavy pin weight on that big boy.

hunterhansen, was that with an empty garage? When I weighed my set-up with my dodge, and 2 golf carts in the garage, I weighed: Front axle:4280, rear axle: 7540, trailer axles: 15740, total: 27560. I have not weighed myself with the new Chevy, but I am guessing I am slightly higher.

No air bags on the Silverado.

The garage was empty on this trip. Only had a few coolers and the kids bikes in the back. Otherwise I would have expected higher trailer axle weight and a bit less king pin weight. Do you know what your two golf carts weigh? Next trip may have one golf cart in the garage so I will have to find a CAT scale on that trip. Even with that heavy pin weight the 3500HD DRW rode great. No plans right now to add air bags with the ride we got. Very pleased with the 2015 Silverado Duramax.

I put air bags on just to lift the rear off the overloads, I tell you, that was a HUGE improvement in ride quality!! The carts weigh about 800-1000 each.

My stock height is 41 1/2 from ground to bottom of the wheel well. With the trailer connected it dropped the truck 2 inches. I just barely touched the overload springs. My guess is if I put some bags on and added 20 lbs it would pull it up enough to get away from touching. Overall I was surprised at how good it rode. Even over those bridges that seem to have horrible bumps at the end it smoothed out right away. Do you know how much drop you have from stock height when hooked up to the trailer?

I never did check drop, it is not that much, these trucks are beasts, and your truck has about 1000 lbs more capacity than mine. That is probably the difference between my airbags and you not needing it. I just know if I was on the overloads, I would not be able to handle the ride. I drove it 3 city blocks without the bags and I rattled my teeth out. If you put weight in your garage that would lower your pin weight anyway.

We've got a 380TH that should arrive to us early next week, and I bought a 2014 F350 DRW with 6.7L Diesel and 8' bed. According to the Ford Towing guide, it should handle a 5th wheel weighing 23,500lbs. The 380 TH has a gross weight of 19,500, so it seems I should have enough truck. Am I missing something? I start second guessing myself when I keep seeing mention of needing F450's and more to tow these. Thoughts?

There should be no issue with towing capacity. You have more than enough. The thing to look at (from my experience) is payload and GAWR capacity. The F350 DWR should handle a 380TH fine but you should check the numbers for your own info and peace of mind. Good luck and happy camping.

Thanks, Andy. We're going to be full-timing and the last thing I needed was too little truck. I thought I'd done my research correctly but other's opinions are helpful. Appreciate the response and will keep watching for more info and ideas to "borrow". ;-)
