    Motivation to Sell it All

One step closer to getting rid of the S&B and going full time next year. Decided to pull the camper by the yard sale this weekend to use the awnings for much needed shade but it turned into the incentive we needed to part with all our possessions. We can't wait till we have the moving sale!

    I wouldn't miss the house at all . . . that thing is a constant PITA .
    But . . . I don't think I could live without my workshop . . .

I love RVing but think I would resent it if I HAD to live in the RV. I still like having a house to go home to. Also, if I was full-timing in an RV, I don't think I'd get to go "camping" anymore because of the effort to pack up everything for a few days away, which is what I really enjoy.

To each his own and enjoy the lifestyle, whatever it is.

Know just how you feel. When we pulled away from the S&B at the end of May it was like a weight lifting from our shoulders. Haven't regretted a day - even when it rained 7 days in a row.

For us, we are looking forward to selling the house. Have sold nearly everything, but some stuff will go into storage. Now, we just need to sell the house.

The house has become a monster of our creation, requiring near constant maintenance. We chose that at the time. But now, we're ready for the freedom.

I’m with you, Rob. I don’t think I could give up my workshop! We have started the process to begin the downsizing. I know it’s time, but not sure I’m ready.

Very unlikely we would ever sell. Mostly because we are both 60+ and should health issues arise, we would want our home to come to. We mostly weekend now but look forward to a couple years from now when we can take extended trips, month at a time maybe. Maybe next year even. We can see what we want to see and visit who we want to visit in a month or so time. Then come home, maintain what needs it, restock and do it again for however long. We did discuss buying property in Idaho or Montana where we could park for the summer...that would work too. Luckily, we don't need to sell the house to do this stuff.

I just have too many things I can't take with me in a coach, tools, guns and many other things that I use and value a lot, and frankly, with all of our stuff, and my aversion to garage sales, I don't want to even spend the time to go through it all and toss half of it. I could be camping. I'm going to let my sons deal with that someday...it's the part of their inheritance we're not going to spend...LOL

With three 6 yr old kids, full timing is out of the question. There's no way we would have the patience to home schooling the kids and I believe kids need school for socialization.

Plus I can't live without my dedicated home theatre, big kitchen, and room for all my toys. Our current house is less fancy and smaller than our previous house, but we remodeled it to suit our lifestyle. I feel blessed to have the best of both worlds - a home base we love that is good for our kids, and the freedom to take long summer trips.

    Happy travels all!
