    Dinette Chair Straps

Ginnie and I thought the dinette chair straps were pretty unsightly, and difficult to use. We found a solution which is much easier. We removed all of the black straps and tie down brackets. We ran a bungee cord around all four chairs and the table leg. The bungee cord only goes around one leg on each chair and is position over the top of the chair rails. This holds the chairs in place very well, and is a cinch to put on and remove. We've put on 1200 miles now and the chairs haven't budged. We even drove down a very rough dirt road and they stayed in place.

Thanks Jim. I also do not like the looks of the chair straps and they always seem to get in the way when not in use. I was thinking of just removing them. I know several people who travel with their dinette chairs unstrapped, but I was worried that the chairs might get tousled a bit and hit the windows.
The bungees sound like a good solution.

That was the first thing we did after getting our 337 home was taking the straps off the floor. I believe they were only installed that way to get from the factory to the dealer. We turn the chairs around so the backs are against the table (seats pointing outward) and then run two of the four straps around the inside of the chair legs and click together. I just store the straps in one of the chairs after setting up so everything is out of the way. We have no problem with bouncing or marring up.

Sounds like a good idea. Do the chair legs rub against the table leg?

We don't normally unstrap the chairs by the window unless we are staying for a few days.

We would have to check that there would still be room for the portable ham radio box on the floor by the window.

We have traveled 1000s of miles and never strapped those chairs. They have never moved. We only keep 2 in so the opportunity is there if they wanted to move. I can't imagine the mess if you rock the trailer enough to move the chairs. We do take a lot of 2 lane rural roads so it's not like the highway department hasn't tried their best to move things.

We removed those straps also right after we bought the Solitude. I place all four chairs under the table and use one strap around the inside leg of the chairs and around the leg of the table. Seems to work for us.

Thanks for these hints we so plan to do one of them. We totally forgot about the straps in this unit until we visited our Reflection when it got to the dealer over the weekend, yes, now it all comes back I dislike those silly things. I am sure there could be a better way to do things from the factory.

I also don't like the straps, but feel more secure when they strapped down while traveling. I have purchased some D rings and will be using those so the straps can be removed while camping.

Like mtpocket, we removed those straps a long time ago. Have traveled over 6000 miles and never had a problem with the chairs moving around. Been on some pretty rough roads too.

anyone having a problem with dinning table being to short? I struggle trying to get my legs under it, was thinking of putting spacers under the leg to get some additional space.
