Using self priming pump to refill pottable water

Just wondering if anyone has filled their fresh water tank by using the self priming pump feature? I do a bit of dry camping and with this new unit plan on extended trips. I am going to try it next weekend but was curious of anyone’s experiences/tips. Do you have a small tote you use just for potable water you fill at the campgrounds ?

I used this feature for almost 3 weeks of camping on our most recent trip. It worked fine using 6 gal jerry cans and a section of 1/2 hose as the suction line. Takes about 2 - 2.5 minutes to transfer a 6 gal can...I carry 4 jerry cans with us. As we both use the camper's shower, that's a lot of water usage...makes you appreciate FHU sites all the more!

I've used mine successfully several times now. I carry one six gallon can, and I fill it up at one of several potable faucets in the area we camp. It keeps me from having to move the rig which is a real blessing. On our old FW, we had to pick up the water can and pour it in. This is MUCH easier.

Could someone explain the procedure for doing this? What do you set the valve to? City fill and turn the water pump on? Is the procedure documented in the Solitude manual? My trailer is at the dealer or I would take a look. I don't remember seeing it in the manual.

You set the Kantleak valve to 'Sanitize/Winterize' and the FW tank access to 'open' (9 o'clock position instead of the 12 o'clock). The WH switch can be in bypass or normal. You'll need a section of water hose to connect to the FW inlet for your suction line to the pump. You can operate the pump at the docking station. The procedure should be documented in the Solitude manual as it was in the Reflection manual.

Thanks Dave. I will give it a shot. I had a pump I used to carry and a jumper box for power. I have two 35 gallon water tanks that I use to refill with. It would be nice to just hook the hose up and fill.
