Locking Fuel Door Install (2017 Ford SuperDuty)

Wasn't sure if this was the right sub-section of the forum for this post, or the Tow Vehicles, or the Reference Library. I guess the mods will move it as required.

The instructions that come with the new locking fuel door are atrocious. When I traded my 250 I left the door on because I couldn't remember how to get it off (and how to reinstall the original door). So I got to buy a new locking door again.

I didn't make the mistake of failing to note what I did this time--I documented exactly how I did it. The PDF spells it out and I'm sharing it with this community in the hopes it helps someone else. In case you're wondering why not on a Ford-specific forum, it's because I only participate on two forums--this one and the GL1800Riders forum.

Good write up, looks easy enough. I've been thinking of doing that for awhile, but im not a huge chrome fan, I have more than enough chrome looking stuff that came from the factory.

I've had trouble with attachments using Tapatalk; you will probably have better luck with the web site to see the file.

I did a quick search on Amazon looking at 2011 F250s, they have them (this is for 2011 - 2016 I believe)

Glad I looked, apparently now they come in other options besides chrome, time to reconsider.

For what that costs you would think they'd do something to let you hang or hold the cap on the door.

For what that costs you would think they'd do something to let you hang or hold the cap on the door.

That's one of my biggest peeves about this truck. It's so much $ and there's no slot to hang the DEF or diesel caps on the door. Heck, $20k econo cars have that feature!

My 350 has a fuel cap hanger, but not for DEF, which is fine. Do you not have the hanger?
