Used to be a car guy, but I'll get back into it when I retire from the military. My focus is on motorcycles right now. Frankly, when I'd walk out to the garage on a gorgeous day, when I had to pick which vehicle I'd want to take out for fun...it was always a motorcycle. That's another story, though - I'll start a motorcycle rider thread and keep my 2-wheeled stuff out of here
As far my cars I've owned (I'll post pictures when I get home later):
- 2000 Z/28 that I cammed, juiced, and did a full suspension swap on. Was around 400/400 off the juice, 500/610 on. Drag raced it a bit, but in reality, it never did much outside of just sounding awesome and driving it to some car shows. I still miss that car.
- 2009 Nissan 370Z - kept this one RELATIVELY stock, as I wanted to get into road racing. Just some intakes, high-flow cats, and an exhaust, an oil cooler, and the basic track necessities (brakes, brake fluid, tires, etc). It was a fun car to drive, but the 3.7L was just anemic as hell, and I missed my Z/28 horribly. Bought it and sold it just a month after I paid it off.
- 2000 Z06 - as I said, I missed my LS powah from my Z/28, and the 2000 Z06 was a perfect alternative without going crazy and buying a C6 or even a C7. Especially for something I wanted to race, that might get beat up a bit. Had H/C/I, a new shifter, and that was about it really - that's all it really NEEDED. The only shame is that I only had it a couple of years before I decided I just wanted to get into motorcycles more. It was an absolutely fantastic, visceral experience on the track, and I loved it.
- 1969 Z/28 clone - she looked all the part from 20 feet away, but any closer and you saw the imperfections in the paint. I got offers to sell it almost everywhere I went. Alas, being a single E5 at the time when I moved from Omaha, NE out to Washington DC/Baltimore area, I couldn't afford a garage. I didn't have the heard to let her rot in the snow every season. I sold her to a home that could take care of her better.

My first was a 1969 AMC Rebel with a 343, pretty quick car. My last (muscle car) was a 1969 Olds 442 convertible. Wish I had it now.

Wish I had a '69 442, one of my all time favorite muscle cars. Had a memorable ride in one when I was in HS.
My Dad bought a 442 in '64, first year it was available. 330ci/315hp/4sp. I learned how to drive in that car. Shut down my fair share of Mustangs and Camaros back in the day. Good times!

The 442 was quick, had a 400 for 1969 then in 1970 they went to a 455. Not wanting to be outdone I put a 455 in mine. The convertible was considerably heavier than the hardtop by over 1,000 lbs but that only helped to keep the greasy side down. I did become airborne with it one night hitting a surprise dip/rise in the road at some outrageous speed......I still remember the orange glowing pieces of the cross member in the rear view mirror after I touched down. Bought that car for $2,200, drove it 12 years and sold it for $5,500. Now I see pristine examples going for 100K.

My buddy back in the day had a 67' cutlass. He was an awesome mechanic and a great driver. Rarely did we get beat in a drag race. The car was a sleeper. It looked like grandma's car, but you could not get the $100 bill off the dash when he hit the gas.

Too many to list. My first was a 1968 Mustang GT with the 390 FE motor that I purchased brand new. After some serious engine work it was one heck of a street fighter. Currently shopping for a vintage Lotus Super 7.
Safe Travels.

Love working, looking at and talking cars.
Current projects are more on the "slow" side.
1973 VW Super Beetle that is going to have the engine and transmission swapped with a Subaru turbo and a bunch of suspension upgrades.
1947 Willys CJ-2A that will be mostly stock with a little more offroad capability but nothing crazy. If the original Go Devil engine has too many issues or isn't good for a rebuild then I may swap in a small turbo diesel.
