    Hot Peppers and Sauces

Here is another of my hobbies (have a half dozen or so)
I grow super hot peppers and make jelly and hot sauce from them. I also grow most of the ingredients for the sauces.
    The hottest are:
Ghost (Bhut Jolokia), Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. These are in excess of 1 million Scoville units!

Sorry, good old Tobasco sauce is about as hot as I can handle. Anything hotter I have some senses and glands that get really annoyed. But then I am allergic to insect stings too.

I had a ghost pepper margarita not too long ago. It was the oddest sensation. The margarita was ice cold, but I was breathing flames after drinking it. BTW, I'd suggest anyone handling these peppers wear gloves. And then remove the gloves before you visit the outhouse. Trust me on this....

Sweet! I'm going to get a smoker this year and try smoking the peppers before I use them. Last year I made a batch of Smoky Ghost that was my favorite so far.

    Cheers,

I see this is an older thread, but still worth talking about. My dad is in Tennessee and grows a bunch of the bhut and scorpions, then smokes them, crushes them up and sends them my way to Colorado. There is a brewery in Boulder, CO that I have been visiting for some Gkost Face Killah, or the Billies Chilies. Both very good from the tap. The other I get in a can is the Green Chile Ale from Soulcraft brewing.

Have made some pretty good Jellies, it really brings out the flavor. Sweet and hot.

Too late, I have already made that mistake.
I like and make hot sauces too, but habanero is as hot as I go.

    Big Lots

I understand its all about making your own. Not wanting to bother with the hazards I found Big Lots or Odd Lots has their own brand of super hot varieties for $1.50 a bottle, still on my first bottle of Carolina Reaper.
