@Dorwinion - suggest you contact GDRV Customer Service to share your spring hanger/spring/tire issues. There have been similar reports of one or more of the issues you have experienced over the years. It is not a problem with the 303 as things like this do happen on some trailers and with other manufacturers as well. Even though your trailer is a 2016, GDRV may be able to offer some support in some way.

Customer Service is 574-825-9679. Keep us posted on your interactions with GDRV.

Ours is 2016 model and LCI wouldn't do anything but help us find someone to replace the broken hanger. GD just referred us to LCI. Good luck.

    @Dorwinion,

There is a lot of “reading material” on this forum about spring strength and matching this to the load being carried. Despite the LCI and GDRV advice to have the same strength springs on both ends of the same axle, it has worked well for several of us to strengthen only the springs on the heavy side.

Tires and suspension should share the flexing over rough roads. If you over strengthen the springs (often recommended by others on this forum) you will force the tires to do most of the impact absorbing and the trailer will get a rougher ride.

Use the search tool in the upper right corner on key words to find these earlier threads. Start with https://www.mygrandrv.com/forum/show...ng-Arch-Height on measuring your current loaded spring arch height to have some actual data to work with.

I have built many trailers in my life and one trailer was built with 8 lug 6000 lb axles, the only difference between it and the 7000 pound axle was the tubing thickness, 3/16 vs 1/4 inch. 6000 lb axles are available in both 6 lug and 8 lug and the brakes and hubs are interchangeable and are also interchangeable with the 7000 pound axle. I have lots of parts laying around that I could show. There can be some slight differences between LCI and Dexter as far as bearing numbers, but still mostly the same dimensions. 5200,6000 and 7000 lb axles all use 12x2 drum brakes.

" Just for info, the difference between a 5200 lb axle and a 6000 lb axle is that the 5200 has 6 lugs and the 6000 has 8 lugs."

Your statement seems to say the difference between the two is the lug count. Not necessarily true. Sorry if I misunderstood.

I'd read a difference between the 5200 and 6000 axles are the outer bearings and races.
etrailer shows a different seal for Dexter between the two axles.

The point I was trying to make is that the axle assembly between a 5200 and 6000 is the same, same tube, same spindle, just different hubs with a different outer bearing and this can vary between years. I have the hubs and bearings that I removed from my 2018 Solitude when I installed disc brakes, that I have thought about installing on my 2001 Holiday Rambler 5er that has 5200 lb axles. But there is no real gain since I already have 16 inch wheels and tires. Typically a larger bolt pattern will result in a higher load capacity, so 8 on 6.5 bolt circle will be rated higher than 6 on 5.5. To me, an axle upgrade isn't worth the expense unless the tubing wall thickness is increased. I have bent a few axle tubes in my time.

See post 12 on this thread https://www.mygrandrv.com/forum/show...341#post176341 for axle tube wall thickness from LCI.

Over the years there could be many variations, but I base my replies on my personal knowledge and what I have been told by suppliers when researching builds.

    https://www.southwestwheel.com/c-125...ler-axles.aspx

on this site, I didn't find a listing for 6000 lb axles, like I said before when I built a flatbed gooseneck trailer in 1994 I purchased 6000 lb 8 lug dexter axles with brakes and found out that they had .180 wall thickness 3 inch tubing compared to .250 3 inch tubing on the 7000 lb axles.

    https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hub...D-655-6-K.html

Here is a listing for a drum/hub which shows 5200/6000 hub as the same.

    https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hub...-7-G-EZ-K.html

Here is a listing that shows 8 lug hub for 5200 to 7000 lb

You can't compare LCI components directly to Dexter because sometimes LCI throws us a curve ball.
