I've been using a solution of borax and laundry detergent to keep my black tank clean. I use about a cup and a half of borax (or any water softener) and a cup of laundry detergent. I mix it up with about a gallon of water and dump it in. The borax keeps all the fluids nice and "soft" and keeps things from sticking to the sides of the tank. Since I've used the solution, my black tank has always registered empty after flushing. I do add about a half a bottle of toilet chemical for each weekend we go.

I would use the tank cleaner they recommend for cleaning the sensors, I would also make sure to not put coffee grounds or grease in the kitchen sink either. Don't know of any " Tricks " per say.

I watched the video on the gray tank and then went looking for the one on the black tank. Wow, that's and involved process but looks like it's worth the time. I've saved both links for when we get ours.
I'm learning so much from this and other sites prior to getting ours.

I have not yet traveled with our Reflection but with our previous Flagstaff TT I would back flush the black tank at least 4-5 times before it would run clear. I use a FloJet Macerator pump on mine and that helps pull more of the waste out. Every once in a while (twice a year) I would also run a water wand down the comode to ensure that there was no debris or waste in the upper neck of the tank. I alos use the Walex BioPack (green) and it works well.

Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to the toilet issues of smell and burping? On this, our second outing it has been bad.

Eaglehead - All RV toilet systems are pretty much the same. The waste drops directly into the black water holding tank. There is no trap or vent between the toilet and the tank. There is a vent from the tank to the roof. When the toilet is flushed, odors can come up through the toilet and into the bathroom. There are three methods for conrolling the odor. 1. Clean the tank to prevent build up and odors. 2. Dump the tank on a regular basis. 3. Use the proper chemicals in the proper quantity to neutralize the odors. I went through three different brands before I found one that works very well.

Keeping the tank flushed and clean is a must along with the proper chemicals. Here is a link to a video you can watch if you like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6sv4d3PsTo
