slide awnings
Has anyone installed slide awnings on a 303RLS? Were there any issues with it clearing the arm of the main awning near the door? What brand did you install? Thanks, ---------

Yes and yes. We have Dometic toppers and the main awning does rub on the topper fairing when extending. It doesn't look like it can be moved any farther back without contacting the slide drain spout. Dealer wants photos as most customers are ordering toppers and it looks to be an ongoing issue. I put a piece of awning repair tape on the topper where they make contact. We'll see how long that lasts.

I found out from Dean at GD that they have worked with carefree to design an awning that will not rub but you have to order through your dealer.

There are options available right now...
We typically have to put on the topper that is 1 size smaller than recommended, then slide it back further in the brackets to clear the awning.

I know your post was from a little while ago but we just got our 317RST and have been told that we can't put a topper on the slide because of clearance issues. Did you get one for yours?

We have Dometic toppers on all three slides of our Reflection 303, which should be a very similar situation to your 317.
The awning just "kisses" the end of the topper as it goes by (see 1st picture). 1/8" further over and they wouldn't touch . . . but its no big deal to put a little side pressure on the arm as we extend the awning and it will clear. I can reach both the awning arm and the switch at the same time.
2nd picture is PN of our curb side topper . . . don't know if yours would be exactly the same or not.
