Problems with refridgerator at high elevatons???

Last night I was reading the owner’s manual on our refrigerator to see if they list how many amps the fan draws while running on propane. Then I notice a section that states the refrigerator may not operate in the propane mode above 5500 feet and that high altitude may cause burner failure. I know a number of you have camped at high elevations but not sure if you were in “dry camp” mode and running your fridge on propane. Has anyone had issues with it there fridge not working at high elevations?? I am very concerned because I leave in two weeks for the Sequoia’s. looking forward to some feed back on this

Where are you staying when in the Sequoias, there is the NP and the NF. We were up there a couple of months ago and stayed at Sequoia RV Ranch just outside the park in Three Rivers. This is only about a couple of thousand feet elevation. There are only a few, very few roads that are recommended for rigs longer than 30'. Good luck and safe travels.

Thanks for the well wishes. We are staying at Dorst Creek campgound so we will be taking generals highway in from Fresno. I have had the old TT up there the last 5 years with no issue running the fridge on propane but after reading the manual on this new unit I am a bit concerned. The whoe family is coming and most all the food for this trip will be stored in our new rig.

    Hi Gary,

We have a Norcold refrig. in our 369RL and we just returned from 8 days of dry camping up in Mammoth Lakes. Ca. where the elevation is +7000 feet. Our frig. worked great on LP. Hope you have a successful trip!

Kathy---You have no idea how conforting your reply is!! We go here every year but this is the 1st trip with the new rig. All the kids and grand kids and even MY dad are going--4 generations and we are looking forward to showing off our 5ther. little ones in tents!!
This is why I love this forum, there in nothing better than getting the info from fellow GD owners!! Note: I also sent a quick email to JD in customer serivice and he replied back right away stating there has not been any reports to his knowldge of high altitude failures.

Thanks again and I will post some pics of those big ole trees once we get back

    Hi Gary,
We live at 5000 feet, and routinely camp above 8000. The fridge has never had an issue other than being too cold sometimes and freezing the fruit. Otherwise it does a fantastic job.
    Thanks

Can we get a "like button"? Thanks for the feed back Chris. we dry camp often at 6000-7000 feet so this is a big relief.

I was thinking about a "Like" Button. I'll have to check for one of those. Good idea.

We have been at 7000 feet since May 29....fridge is fine except for getting too cold at times as stated above and my orenges get a little frost-bitten.
