    Chili via Electric Skillet

When camping, I really try not to use the stove (I guess it's the thought of burning my propane vs using the "free" electricity available). And of course, I like to cook outside if I can.
So...here's a recipe I use to make chilli if in a hurry and do not have the time to use the crockpot. Its a really easy/good recipe for "the 1st night" on a fall or winter's camping trip.

    Electric Skillet Chilli
2 or 3 lbs. ground beef (chuck, sirloin, etc.)
    1 onion
    1 can kidney beans
1 can whole tomatoes (slightly chopped)
    1 can of Rotel tomatoes
    1 can tomato sauce
    1 package of chili seasoning

Brown ground beef with finely chopped onion. Drain excess grease. Add tomatoes (Rotel, whole and sauce), 1 drained can of kidney beans. Add chili seasoning. Bring to boil. Let simmer 1/2 hour.

Renee, This looks like a great recipe. The only time we cook inside is if the weather won’t let me cook outside---and it better be pouring!!. I have a 3 burner camp chef stove and a Dutch oven that we use every trip. I may try this chille recipe on the Dutch oven

Thanks, Renee. I agree with using electricity vs propane. Any more electric skillets meals out there?
