I have the 18 2800bh with the Dexter axles. Are you saying that they are junk an only used for half a year? I thought Dexter was the upgrade??

The axles should be fine, the springs might be an issue. Just take a look at them and see if they have an arch in them. The curb side is the heavier side on mine and that's where I have the issue. Check for the top of the tire clearance to the floor on both sides. Also look at the tag on the axles to see what the weight rating is. There must of been a mix of Dexter and Lippert axles used through 2018 but for 2019 the Dexter 4400 lbs axles and springs are being used.

I have a 2019 Imagine 2800BH and have 3500 lb Dexter axles. I also have tire rub on curb side. I had a blow out on the curb side that I am pretty sure was caused by the inadequate tire to camper clearance. My springs are really flat also. I am very upset. I will be calling GD in the am.

I'm surprised they are the 3500 lbs axles and springs! On GDRV website the specs for that trailer calls for Dexter 4400 lbs axles and springs for the 2019 model 2800BH. Definitely need to get them to make it right.

My First trip I had a tire shred on the curb side (pic where you can see wood) with only 1400 miles on camper. I attributed it to the Westlake tires, now I think it was due to camper suspension design flaw.

Coheeba I have the exact same problem, same wear marks as well and same flat springs. I posted my pics in other thread but basically the same.

So looks like it is more than a one off. GD told me to take it to my dealer first who never even responded to my inquiry. May try again in the spring but will likely just take trailer to a truck spring shop and get it done right.

I’d gladly take it down to Indiana to the factory for a proper repair as they are only a few hours away but will have to chase GD again.

I will be calling Grand Design shortly. The dealer I bought from is 6 hours away and it isn’t a dealer problem it is a manufacturing issue. I would not want to tow this 6 hours. I don’t have a spare, I was in the process of buying all new tires because I lost faith in the Westlake tires, but now... I’m glad I found this forum/thread, it got me thinking. If GD does not make this right, I will sell my camper and move on, but the camper as is, is not safe and an accident waiting to happen.

Now that this has gotten well documented I've started a Blog post to keep track of the issue (it's in my sig). Nothing fancy yet just starting to gather all the data and threads.

Keep us posted Coheeba, I unfortunately won't have my trailer back in my hands again until at least March/April, she is in hibernation for the winter lol.

    Cheers

Just got off the phone with GD customer service (22min) and said that they changed the axles sometime in 2019 due to the camper having heavier components (vague). I have the second a/c and the new slide so I’m not sure what else would make it heavier. He also was checking to see if I had 2 ⅜” vs 3” axels. If they are the 2 ⅜” they will replace with the 3”,both are 3500 lb. My initial reaction is they want to help however, they are trying not to initiate a recall. I will update as I get more info.
