    Battery Disconnect Switch question

    Hi ,

This is our first FW and I noticed that when the battery disconnect switch is off the landing gear still works. Is this by design? I was hoping that by shutting off the battery, the landing gear would not work to prevent kids from playing with the switch as my trailer is fairly close to the sidewalk when in my driveway.

It is designed that way. The primary purpose of the disconnect switch is to turn off any parasitic drains on the battery so it doesn't discharge while you have it stored. In your case, you may want to go farther by adding a disconnect switch to the battery terminal itself. There are several listed on Amazon that range in price from $10 to $25.

    Thanks Jim,

I'll look into adding a secondary switch as well.
