Yellowstone and Grand Tetons NP
Greetings,
My wife and I are planning our first trip to Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons National Parks (7-10 days) this summer and would appreciate any ideas/advice on RV parks, places to see and things to do. We are looking for a place to stay with full RV hookups. It looks like we are already too late to stay at Fishing Bridge CG inside the park. I am considering Headwaters Lodge RV Park near the south entrance of Yellowstone and between the parks. The reviews are mixed for this park and am wondering if anyone has any recent experience with this park? I realize staying in this area will mean a lot of driving with heavy traffic to see much of Yellowstone but I do like the location with access to both parks. Thanks in advance for any ideas/comments.

We stayed at Grizzly RV in West Yellowstone and Coulter Bay in Grand Tetons. Get reservations ASAP.

Re: Yellowstone and Grand Tetons NP
Jeff -
Sorry for the short reply; it is hard to type on my tablet.
We stayed at Grizzly RV in West Yellowstone for 5 nights. It is fairly convenient to the west entrance and we didn't encounter any major delays driving in. We spent 3 days driving each of the loops in the park, and a 4th day to rest and take the dog swimming. It ended up not much of a rest, since you can wash your camper at Grizzly Three days was about all the smell of sulfer we could take, but Yellowstone is amazing.
Coulter Bay RV park is in the Grand Tetons (run by Xanterra), there are some E/W sites and a bunch of no hookup. We found it harder to get reservations in the E/W sites and ended up changing our Grizzly reservations to match up with that. It is not too bad a drive from West Yellowstone then out the south entrance. We spent 2 days driving the Tetons, one of which we went down to wander through Jackson. We probably missed a lot, but we did what we could with our Golden Retriever. Fortunately it was cool enough to leave her in the truck for 30 minutes or so.
Our trip was from the central east coast (on the ocean) so we planned it to stop at the Black Hills on the way. We spent about 5 weeks on our trip though.
Hope you enjoy your trip.

Thanks Kay for the great recommendation. Both of those RV parks have great reviews and am making our reservations this week.

Just returned from an amazing 12 day adventure to Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP's. Thanks 2hams for the recommendation on places to stay in the area. Both Grizzly RV and Colter Bay were perfect for us and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We also stayed at Pioneer RV in Lander, WY on the way up and again on our way home. This is also a very nice park and is within 2-3 hours of the National Parks. Our 337 performed perfectly on the trip and are ready to begin planning our next getaway. We did see several Reflection rigs on the road and also saw one pulling into Pioneer RV as we were leaving to head to Texas.
Safe travels to all,
