    2016 Reflection 27RL break-in

Well, we finally had our break-in trip. Ended up being 11,555 miles in 70 days. I have to say that our unit performed outstandingly. Not one time did we experience any functional problems that would have required assistance. Thank you Grand Design. That being said, there are numerous minor problems that never should have gone out of the factory. Here are some of them:
1 Left side cargo door not flush with outside wall. To try to hide the gap, someone just spread a gob of silicone in the gap.

The corner molding on the overhang is missing most of the screws. They never were installed. I only noticed this because the left side was starting to sag and when I took off the screw covering I couldn't believe what I found.

This last photo of the corner trim on the inside at the steps going to the bed/bath. It is a very poor job of trying to hide a mistake.

Other problems include, all of the rubber molding on the sliding windows has shrunk causing gaps from 1/2 inch to 1 inch allowing rain and dust to enter the inside of the unit, the thermostat installed does not have a function to control the heat strip on the air conditioner, no heater ducting to the bathroom heater vent, the entry door frame is installed twisted causing the door to pop open at any time. There are other issues that I will discuss with my dealer when they return my inquiry.

Regarding the trip, that seems like a lot of miles in70 days? How many hours were you on the road per day? I ask because we are planning a X-country trip next summer/fall to be gone 12 weeks.
We also have a 2015 27rl. Haven't noted the same issues as you. Our's were KantLeak valve leak, grease breakdown in wheel bearings, toilet that needs waste pipe removed and shortened, Flexguard broken under one of the slides and a ripped piece of slideout seal.

we did the Ontario Canada to San Francisco return trip (about 5700 miles) a few years back in three weeks and averaged about 270 miles a day (sometimes more/less/none at all). Went down thru texas and back across the top and still managed to see plenty. Not everybody is up for that much driving but I few the driving as part of the adventure. You see more from the ground than the air !

On the days that we drove from one point to another we averaged about 250 miles per run. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We always tried to be on the road by 8:30 am and be stopped for the day around 2 pm so we could visit local customs. According to the display in my truck we were driving for 278 hours the entire trip.
One of the other things that is annoying about the quality of our unit is that the black tank drains slowly no matter how full it is. I believe that when the holes were cut for the pipes, the cut pieces were left in the tank. I can't prove it until the tank comes out so see so that is added to my list. My Kantleak valve is also messing up. It will not switch to on-board water. Mostly little problems that should not have happened in the first place but only time will tell to see how Grand Design responds.

Wow... the stuff in those pictures should never have been allowed to leave the factory. GD is usually much better at fit and finish than that. Somebody had a bad day installing and then the inspection on the way out let it go too. Very disappointing. Looks more like another company. Hopefully GD isn't getting so busy that workers are hurried and then overlooked in inspection. Hopefully yours will be fixed to your satisfaction.

EDIT: I found the cut out from my fresh water tank drain clogging the drain. Wouldn't be surprised if our black and gray have the same if that is how they do it.

We were told by our dealer that when the holes are drilled out of the tanks that the plastic piece does go down into the tank. That happens with all manufactures. What we did was get a back flusher so if it doesn't want to drain we can hook the hose up to it and wash it away.

    Hi Mike and Margarete (@gestern1),

the thermostat installed does not have a function to control the heat strip on the air conditioner
There is no heat pump on Reflection air conditioner units.

Janice, looking at the specification sticker inside the air conditioning unit, it clearly indicates that there is a heat strip (not heat pump) on our unit. According to the information I researched, there needs to be a 'heat strip' function on the thermostat to control this feature.

ID:	3133 Sorry it is upside down. Just giving you some neck exercise.

As you can see on the second photo, the heater is rated at 1530 watts.

    Hi Mike and Margarete (@gestern1),

That is for an optional heat strip, which we do not order with our air conditioner units.

    Best regards,
