Electric skillet vs camp stove vs induction burner vs ???
Kris and I are just getting ready to stock the camper with all the essentials when we pick it up next week. We have an electric frypan and an old Coleman two burner camp stove, and I'm always looking for new ideas to what I call "reduce the hassle factor". Electric frypans seem easier to me than using the camp stove, but what about other ideas? Has anyone used the induction cooktop burners, and would you recommend them? What are you all using when you cook outside instead of on the stove top in the camper?
We also figured we would buy a new small grill for steaks, fish, etc, maybe something like the WeberQ. Any personal preferences for small grills that you really like?
Thanks All,

I am a bit old fashion but we cook 95% of everything outdoors. I have a 2 burner camp chef stove with a single burner griddle and a single burner gill box for steaks and fish. It is a little cumbersome but it's a great set up that allows me to cook most anything for up to about 4-5 people. I even bring a dutch oven for goodies!!

We use an induction burner (NuWave). I love using it. I use it inside the camper and outside.

Renee,
We've seen a couple with a 9" or 10" pan, so that seems to be the limiting factor, as much as we know about them. We've never used one, so we have no idea how well they work. Do you know what the maximum pan size is for your induction burner?
Thanks for your feedback,

We have an electric griddle I use to cook breakfast outside. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, and even toast are easy on the griddle and easy clean up.

I still love my Camp Chef stove and cooking out side under the ez up. Also when time permits I like to use my Dutch Oven.
I do keep a crock pot packed and use it as well, especially when it's soup weather. This year I added a 4 qt pressure cooker thinking it would be great for fast meals

We use the microwave and the stovetop when we are on short trips (1-3 days). For the longer trips we use a Camp Chef 3 burner (9,000 btu) with cast iron griddle for breakfast. We take the griddle off and use cast iron skillets and pots for the rest of the cooking and when it comes time for grilling we have a Camp Chef grill that sits atop 2 of the three burners. My wife also brings an electric pressure cooker to make her rice in since it is real fast and makes really good sticky Asian rice.

Weber Q here and we use it every trip. Crock pot is the only other thing we use. Made Easter dinner for 6 at the camp ground a couple of years back in the crock pot. Was yummy. We used to have an outside kitchen in the old rig, only made corn on the cob, hot mulled wine (it was -20c at the time) and warmed up some stuff for thanksgiving dinner on it. Not 100% sure the old Coleman will make it in this rig. I want it but DH does not appear to interested yet.

Between a crock pot and an electric skillet, we seldom even cook inside other than reheating in the microwave.
With a 2 burner cooktop, the OEM gas grill and a microwave in the outside kitchen of our 323BHS, I don't see cooking inside except on rainy days.
Come to think about it, we seldom cook inside when at home--cooking most meals outside on a gas grill year round.
