i looked at the specs. on these tires i got the ones that are on my 303 are 225-75-15 28.3 inches tall, the 225-75-16 are 29.3 inches tall. Do you know of some that are the same size as the 15s? Don

I guess I need either new glasses or a new memory. I thought I read 29.3. Either way, the 225/75-16 LT tires will fit just fine. From what I can see, the 245/75-16 will fit also. Would not go any larger due to top clearance. You have plenty of clearance between tires, just not at the top.

Measure your current clearance. Very early 303 models did not have clearance, anything after Oct or Nov 2013 should (thank you Micah and GD for the change). We have 225/75R16 LT on ours. We got Bridge stone Duravis, a rib tire.

I am planning to put 16 inch rims on my 303 and all this talk about clearance got me looking at the axles. Can you put a spacer between the leaf spring and the spring plate on the axle and put longer u bolts to get the room for the tires? Anyone try this or will it not work?

My 16" Duravis R250's were $195 each at Costco after a factory rebate. That's the lowest price I've recently seen.

To the question about spacers . . . I think these would work.
    http://www.trailerblocks.com/collect...in-wide-spring
I have not tried this, but I would like to raise my 303 a couple of inches to get it level and keep adequate clearance over the truck.
With 1" spacers, tires with a 2" larger diameter will have the same clearance as original.
Trailer will be lifted 1" from the spacers + 1" from the larger diameter tires . . . Which should be just about right.
Has anybody ever actually used these spacers ?

Eleven years ago I had a reputable frame & axle business that specialized in 18-wheelers do the same thing with a Crossroads RV Cruiser. They added 2" steel blocks that were 8" long between the axles and spring blocks. It worked fine with no problems and I traded the rig this past spring for a GD Reflection. Currently my setup is a bit low to the truck bedrails, but will change to 16" wheels/tires in 2015 and hopefully everything will be fine.

    Hi Retread68,

Thanks for the first hand insight into this.
    1) It seems that 303's on 15" wheels are a little low for Ford tow vehicles.
    2) With the standard tires, jounce clearance (loaded) is 3". A little less on the heavy driver's side.
I think the spacers will solve several problems, as noted earlier.
