    Imagine 2nd A/C Question

We bought a 2018 3170bh last year. I'm thinking about adding a 2nd a/c. I have seen this answered for Reflections, but not Imagines - are the Imagines able to accept a ducted front A/C and is there thermostat wiring behind the light switch as well? All the Imagine 3170's I have seen pictures of had non-ducted units with controls built into the vent cover in the ceiling.

    Thanks in advance!

It seems to vary on the Imagines - is your trailer set up with 30-amp or 50-amp service? Check out this thread:

Ours came prepped for the 2nd A/C and has 50 amp service which is mandatory. I guess I'll have to drop the vent trim piece and just take a look

I have an Imagine 2800BH with 2nd A/C and 50 amp service. The unit in the bedroom is non vented and non thermostatically controlled. The main unit in the living area is ducted and thermostatically controlled. On a side note i have a Honda 2000 generator and it will run the main unit but not the bedroom unit. Nothing else can be run but it will work.

Was your 2nd A/C factory installed?

We have the factory 2nd AC in our Imagine 2950. The bedroom AC is not ducted and does not have a wall control. The thermostat is on the AC unit and it has adjustable vents on the unit. If the coach is prepped for it, the power wiring for it should be there. You would just have to install the unit.

Ok I went out and took the interior vent trim ring down - there is no duct there and only a 110v - no 12v / thermostat wire.

I see a 13.5k Coleman Mach Non-Ducted A/C (our main unit is a 15k Coleman Mach Ducted unit with thermostat) will set me back about $575 - $600 and install looks easy enough.

Am I missing something? I keep seeing people rolling out $1100 - $1500 price tags for this.

    That's about right.

I would suspect that the pricing you are quoting is an installed cost at a dealer for a ducted/thermo unit.

    FYI...we get $899 installed for a Coleman 13.5 and $1259 installed for a Penguin Lo Pro 13.5 ducted/thermo unit.

I think your biggest problem is how to get the AC unit up on top of the RV to install it. They are not exactly light. Somebody was talking about doing this a year or two ago. I don't know how they did it. Might be worth a search of the forum to see how they got it up on top of the RV.
