I have a 2019 Chevy 3500 standard box with the B&W companion. Non slider. I did not have a problem when I pulled the unit home and backed it in. I was probably 80 degrees. I am very green with the 5th wheel and perhaps very naive, but don't see where I would need to be 90 degrees anyways.

The previous owner of my trailer had the same truck as me with the non slider and didn't have a problem. All trailers and trucks are different. I found a YouTube video ( I think It was from B&W) on how to measure for clearance. Not sure if you could borrow a hitch to measure your truck and trailer your looking at.

Just curious. Over the years whenever buying anything if I had to have adapters to use it I would shy away from it, as adapter always seemed to mean trouble. Do all these adapters for these hitches work trouble free pretty good or do you always have to be checking them to see if they have come loose or need to periodically have to re-tork everything to make sure there safe.

That's and excellent question. From what I have been told (replies to emails and sales folks) they are no different than the hitches that fit the pucks. In other words you should check the puck locks before each use. Right now I make sure all rail pins are correct and that all hitch pins and bushings are correct each morning (part of my hitch up and go check list that I keep in my head) One of these days I will wright it down. I also looked for rail adapter issues online and most were initial fitment issues. Etrailer has a couple with directions on the solution. If you can get, a hands on look before you buy. I was fortunate enough to get to see one in a Ford truck a few months back. It was a Reese and very solid. I have already told my sales guy he is going to include the adapter in the new truck deal this fall. Also by using one you will have extra adjustment height on your hitch head. The adapter spaces the hitch up and inch or two.

I have had a Reese w/ the adapter for the past 4 years with no issues (on the adapter). I don't trust the Reese anymore as it sheared one of the one inch grade 8 pivot bolts last summer.(prob happened on a transition from new laid asphalt to the old. About 10 yards warning & a 2 inch ramp doin' 60) Will be going to a B&W before I tow the trailer again.

I do like my Andersen Ultimate hitch for it's light weight. But I've recently learned that if you have a B&W Turnover ball you can get an offset ball that buys you a similar offset as the Andersen hitch. I wonder how that would work with the Reese Goose Box in a short or 6.5' bed.

I had to get the Pullrite adaptor bars to fit the auto slider 2700 16K to my 2018 Chevy 3500 with the puck system, the only issue is the bars raised the front of the 303 about 2".

It was on a 16K, 4k pin. Model#30866. I can't recollect what my actual weights were, but were way under...packed for a 4 day trip, no water on board. I believe it was the shock of the drop that did it, looked everything over when I found a wide spot, then traveled another 150 miles. Found it packing to leave a camp site & had to scramble to find a auto repair shop to easy-out the broken bolt & scooted into Astoria to find a replacement bolt.
