The first pic is curbside and second is street side. If I remember from my factory weight sheet the street side was considerably heavier, like 6-700 pounds heavier at least. I'm sure now that it's loaded for camping its even more than that. I agree I think they look fine and it sits level and tows like a dream.

Just came aacross this thread and as a new owner a 2019 375RES it peaked my interest immediately. So I took pics of the springs today. Not great detail but they still seem to be in solid position and supporting well. They only have 1000 miles on them on 2 easy trips to the beach. Heading to the Smokies next weekend for a week and they will get trsted more
Thanks for making me aware of this so I can keep an eye on it!

I just ordered the 382 yesterday and already regretting my decision! The 382 is the same floorplan only switched front to back (and heavier). WTF? I don't want to buy a trailer that needs suspension upgrades immediately. That's B.S.

We canceled our order. A trailer that expensive should come with 8000 pound axels and more substantial leaf springs. The math doesn't add up with one side of the trailer being that much heavier than the other. Too close to maxing out the suspension. I've shopped lighter fifth wheels that came standard with 8000 pound axels. Sorry Grand Design, too dangerous.

It seems to me that GD screwed up on this one but 2 sets of pics are on 2019 units and look great. Have they taken care of the problem in 2019? We have a 2017 and love it except for the 3 separate occasions of leaf spring failure. The last set of springs I purchased I had them add an extra leaf. The extra leaf has a shorter distance between the top leaf and the next one down, seems to strengthen it more. BUT I worry now that they may put more strain on the axle and shackles. So, off to Grants Pass, Ore to get the MorRyde IS upgrade.
Bottom line here is that I think GD makes a great unit and has a great reputation, then why drop the ball on this? It's a shame I have to spend $9000 to make it right but from what I've read the IS is well worth the upgrade, plus the disc brakes.Last edited by Marlinda; 01-25-2020 at 11:43 AM.

I feel that on about all the Solitudes (except the S class) the suspension is the the weakest link to a great trailer. Massive basement storage and low cargo capacities and until now no option for 8000 lb axles. The longer Solitudes should come equiped with 8000 lb axles without adding it as an option.
That is part of why we haven't upgraded. Our Reflection 303 has more CCC and interior storage than 3/4 of the SolitudesMarcy & Gary

There was a representative from Grand Design at the January Quartzite rally that said that all of the big Solitudes would soon have 8000lb axles and optional disk brakes.
