    Older Tow Vehicles

I'd like to see how many tow with an older vehicle. I use my 2002 F-350 7.3 diesel which I have kept as near mint as possible and it still looks and runs like new inside and out and is very comfortable. I really love that truck and it has been extremely reliable. Of course since it's paid for I can afford to spare no expense on maintenance, parts and longevity mods. Nothing but the best for a truck that has faithfully served me for years and shows no sign of giving up. It doesn't have all the technology of the newer vehicles but I can live with that.

2011 F-250 XLT 6.7 CC, 103,000 miles. No truck payment makes me like it even more. I did price a 2019 F-350 XLT 6.7L DRW for 59K which got me considering an bit, actually quite a bit, but nope, gonna keep driving OTIS for a while.

2003 F250 diesel Lariat crew cab 2wd--last of the 7.3 diesel. With a D-P Tuner running an 80 hp econo tune and 60 hp tow tune, it tows my Reflection 323BHS fine. I mainly use it just for light use and towing a 24' Bennington tritoon boat.

It's now at 145K miles, and the engine is scheduled to wear out when I'm 93 years old.

Wow 102K and 145K you guys got me beat on low miles, mine currently has 177K. I really like the EX and would probably have one if I wasn't already full up on vehicles. Bamaman you got a good rig for towing, that 2WD gives you some extra payload which wasn't too generous on the CCLB 4X4 diesels. I'm weighing in at 8860 fully loaded for a trip with fiberglass topper but without trailer. My GVWR is 9,900 so I have just over 1K for tongue weight. If I recall the 250's were 8,900? In my opinion the 2002-2003 models were the most refined, quietest and most powerful of the 99-03 Superduty trucks. Many changes in 2002 electrically and every older one I was ever in was much noisier in the cab, mine is very quiet, can hear a whisper at 75 MPH.

I am towing with an 04Ford F350 6.0. It melted the ERG cooler which took out a head gasket. It is now bullet proofed. No EGR, ARB head studs, improved head gasket, and other tweaks. Still not sure I can fully trust it now for long trips. Looking to upgrade with a 2020. We shall see.

I had been using an 01 F250 with the 7.3. Owned it for 10+ years. DP tuner, BTS tranny, few other things here and there. It was a great truck and served us well for many miles. The 18 F350 we have now is a world away from the old truck.

What a great thread! I found an LBZ duramax after more than 3 years of searching...1 owner, well maintained, and 3LT package to boot. I paid up, for the first time in my life but it was worth it. No emissions bs (D this and that) and matches my 303 perfectly. If, for some reason I have to move up (happy wife, happy life...lol) I have all but the body parts to add a couple of wheels/tires to make it haul pretty much whatever she wants...

    Looks better too...

I tow with an 04 ram 5.9l with 145k on it. I had a 2016 ram with the 6.7 also, but I prefer the older truck without all the emissions garbage on it.

Those 6.0's once bullet proofed are supposed to be a good engine.
